Dear readers, as we told you in the previous article we created this blog to inform you about the most important events and other nice things happening in here Rome. Looks like the “Eternal City” is going to offer a lot this weekend, and we are so excited to talk about it with you! 🙂
Most of you probably knows that the next Sunday is occurring Easter, a religious feast that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ – happened 3 days after his dead. Well, Rome is definitely the ideal city to spend your Easter Holidays if you are a follower of Christianity – same applies if you hold some curiosity in culture, religion and anthropological matters.
Vatican Agenda is certainly full of appointments during this Holy Week and the first event we want to recommend is the Way of the Cross at the Colosseum presided by the Pope. This is a tradition of Christianity that recalls the 2 km path that Jesus Christ covered while carrying the crux he was about to be crucified in. The Way of Cross will start from St.Peter Square and it will culminate with Pope’s Mass at Colosseum at 21:15.
Tomorrow, March 31st, is the Holy Saturday: Pope will celebrate a Mass for the Easter Vigil.
On Sunday, finally, the Pope is going to celebrate the Easter Sunday Holy Mass at 10:00 o’clock, that will culminate with the Urbi et Orbi blessing at 12:00.
The forthcoming Sunday is also the first Sunday of the month. Did you know that every first Sunday of the month most of the Museums are free in Rome? This is an initiative organized by Rome municipality in association with the Ministry of Culture to promote the arts and the treasury of the city. This year the museums will be also free during the Easter Monday. Here you can find a list of the most important Museums and archaeological sites that you may visit for free during this 2 days:
- Roman Forum
- Palatine Hil
- Capitoline Museums
- Trajan’s Market
- Borghese Gallery
- GNAM, National Gallery of Modern Art
for further information, you can have a look at this link.
This year, during Easter Celebration, the municipality is going to promote further events in the museums: the initiative “La sorpresa è nei Musei” – The Surprise is in the Museums – offers an interesting variety of concerts, readings and shows. Further information here.
Want more? Sure! Rome is going to offer several events on the next days. We want to point out some of them, which seem to be interesting.
First of all, the Easter Concert in the San Paolo entro le mura Church. The program for this year provides six Johann Sebastian Bach concerts. More info here: http://www.operainroma.com/event/bach-brandenburg-concerto/
If you are visiting Rome, you are probably looking for some good place to eat. And if you do so, you may be definitely interested in the Italian Easter culinary traditions. That’s the reason why we want to highlight this brunch, organized by the Mercato Centrale (3 minutes away from Palladini Hostel Rome).
Want some Party? As every Saturday, Palladini Hostel Staff is organizing a pub crawl: have a look at this link for more information and book at desk with our personal!
